Film in Focus and Senior Cinema Tuesdays
The ART Mission and Theater will kick-off two film series. Film in Focus, a series of screenings and discussions with film directors, will kick-off on August 9th, and Senior Cinema Tuesdays, a weekly brunch and film for area seniors, will kick-off the next morning, August 10th.
Film in Focus is a program to bring film-makers to the ART Mission and Theater, to screen and discuss their films. On August 9th at 5:15 pm and 7:15 pm, Director Joe Dull will screen his film "Table at Luigi's". The film is a collaboration between faculty and students at the University of Central Arkansas and centers around a chef who creates living dreams for people through his cooking. Tickets for the event are $4. The Film in Focus program will continue, throughout the year, as films and directors become available.
The next morning, the ART Mission and Theater will kick off Senior Cinema Tuesdays, a weekly light brunch followed by a film screening. Occuring every Tuesday at 10:30 am (film begins at 11:00 am), Senior Cinema Tuesdays provides a venue for the area's older-set to mingle and get out of the house.
Patrons of Senior Cinema Tuesdays will enjoy a light brunch consisting of coffee, orange juice, bagels, muffins and more, while sitting in the ART Mission and Theater's gallery, featuring experimental, conceptual, evocative, and creative art from the some of the region's premier artists. The weekly event will conclude with a viewing of an independent, foreign, or culturally significant film showing that week at the ART Mission and Theater. Senior Cinema Tuesdays will only cost $8, with the option to only view the film for $6. While the event is geared toward the elderly, all ages will be accepted.
Senior Cinema Tuesdays will kick off on August 10th with the critically acclaimed film "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work" (opening at the ART Mission on Friday July 30), followed the next week, August 17, by an exclusive showing of the film "Grazia". Produced by former Binghamton residents, now living in Florida, "Grazia" will not be shown at normal showtimes and is only available during Senior Cinema Tuesdays. Further film selections will be publicized at www.artmission.org.

Meet Matt Thorn!
Hello Everyone!!!
Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, my name is Matt Thorn and I will be the new Executive Director for the Art Mission and Theater upon Amy's departure.
I'm extremely excited about this position and look forward to sharing with you all the amazing projects that I and the Board of Directors are looking forward to beginning. The first adventure that we will be undertaking is our first annual "Celebrating Art and Film Gala" and member's pre-show September 24, 2010. We invite you all to come and experience our member artists before their works go on display the First Friday in October. I will be sure to update you all as the date approaches.
I am looking to 2011 and introducing new programming for the Art Mission and Theater. The staff and I are looking to implement a variety of film festivals including a Jewish Film Festival, Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Environmental Film Festival and Big Screens & Shorts festival. I am looking to also partner with area universities and high schools to create an in-depth educational forum for students through art and film. I will continually provide you all with updates as these projects come to fruition.
I would also enjoy hearing your feedback and what you would like to see at the Art Mission and Theater. Your thoughts and ideas are of a great asset to me and I would thoroughly enjoy implementing them into our programming for 2011.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and growing our organization into a cultural center for Binghamton.
Best Regards,
